A Georgian luge slider competing at the Vancouver Olympics, Nodar Kumaritashvili passed away while training and hit a metal pole. He was only 21. On Friday night's Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony, a moment of silence was observed to honor him and his fellow Georgian Olympians wore black armbands in his memory. Before the tragic event, he told his fater that he was terrified of the track. Kumaritashvili was supposedly traveling at speeds greater than 90 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
